I was thinking about doing this the other day and looked on Elsie's blog and she had listed music they were listening to so I have listed my favourite artists or ones I have heard and like. Most of the music I listen to is on the radio so it is quite random!!
Amsterdam Colins sister is going out with Paul Hagen one of the band members bit I really like their sound. Need to get the album though!! I like 'Takin' on the World'...makes you want to dance.
Cara Dillon I listen to this album when I want to chill out or be inspired. She has such a beautiful voice, so clear.
Lou Fellingham Love this album. It is mellow and really inspiring. Love having it on first thing in the morning or whilst I am working.
Matt Redman This guy is so gifted and challenging in his lyrics. Love it.
The Feeling Jamie and Phoebe fav band. This is the band Jamie wants to buy!!
Mika being played a lot over the radio at the moment very catchy.. only heard two songs but they are different. The kind that stick in your head all day!!
Dido Life for Rent This is my favourie album for scrapping to. It never fails to to get me in the groove.
Norah Jones This is my fav chill out album.
Keane Just so talented
Coldplay Although is always sound sad I can't help but like the great sound of this band.
George Winston This is my favourite classical album. I can't get my fav song bc it is not listed. It is Merry Go Round on the album 'Plains' bc it reminds me of Elisha dancing. (my daughter who died) Velveteen Rabbit is very close in style to it.
KT Tunstall Phoebes fav band. This is very upbeat...good for motivating me!
Sixpence None the Richer. This is a lovely feel good album..old but I like it.
Sandi Thom such funky upbeat tunes.
Razorlight Colin got this for christmas but I'm always listening to it
U2 this is for Colin...he loves this band. We had so much fun when we went to their concert I remember jumping up and down to this song 'Vertigo.'

more snow...

Other things like having only one boot of three different pairs of wellies....sorting out if Sunbeams would still run...listening to the radio to see if school was closed and getting everyone ready and out of the house...trying to push a double buggy in the snow... all things which have made today an interesting day!! School was on, so was toddler group and now the sun has come out all that lovely snow is melting. What a shame I wish it would stay long enough to go and play in it properly. We enjoyed it while it was here.
Colin had a course in London which was a shame as he wanted to play in the snow ith the children this morning and he had to leave at 6:45 so he could get his train.

sorry so busy...
I have been working hard all evening researching for the class tomorrow...I know I always leave it til the last minute but, what fun I have been having. I reaaly wanted to show you some pics of the designs and fashions that have been inspiring me but unfortunately I ran out of time ( and had two sick children today) I will try to post some soon. Meanwhile why not go to the library and look up some fashion or interior design books and see what you find....

going retro...
digging into some old photos to use as demos for my retro class on thursday...so funny what I found. Mostly of Colin (my husband) but some of me. Makes me want to go over to my parents and get the ton of photos they have of me when I was little. I will let you know what the scrapping results are when I have done them. Totally loving the research for this class....

they can be so funny....
Jamie: mummy when can we swap houses?
Me: Don't you like our house?
Jamie: Yes but when can we swap just for a little bit.
Me: What don't you like ?
Jamie: (pause) I don't like all the bits that aren't finished!!
Me: What bits especially do you think need finishing? (oh help nearly the whole house)
Jamie: The things that are wood and need painting like the doors in the kitchen.
(fri 2 feb)
Phoebe and Jamie are watching tv when an ad comes on for a band called 'The Feeling'
Phoebe: Oh I love this band
Jamie: Yeh! this is my favourite band....mummy when can we buy the band?
Ewan at pre-school was playing with some dinosuars. They were all different colours and they had houses which they went in...after playing for a while he picked up two dinosuars and looked at them...his teacher said he had a eureka moment when the light went on and he noticed that they were both the same. ....he then paired up all the dinosuars and arranged them around the table. Stephanie, his teacher said she had never seen a child have that moment before and it was amazing to watch. Also when he does something good he sort of jumps up and punched the air with both hands.
Jamie and Phoebe have to clear the table after dinner...today they tackled it by singing all the way through (they did an amazing job)
Lucia decided that diving head first off the arm of the sofa was a good game until she really fell off and banged her head. Mum was not so pleased as it meant a trip to casualty.....but having said that we left home before 6 and were home just after 7 having seen a nurse and a doctor which I think was briiliant. (Frimley has its own childrens A&E) Lucia was most put out that we had to leave so soon because she wanted to play with the toys!!
Well that was my day..hopefully tomorrow will not be quite so eventful...I have my doubts!!

finally some scrapping..
Oh it was so nice to get out to a crop last night. As part of my class schedule, I run crops once a month on a Thursday night. If you are in the locality and would like to join in please contact me. It is open to anyone who likes to scrap. We are very friendly!!! Also I have cardstock, patterned paper, stickers, rub-ons, page kits and embellishments for sale (it is per item rather than packets as it is stock from my classes) Also I have tools, stamps, magazines, books, paints and punches available. (I am saving for a cricut so hopefully soon there will be that as well!!!)
Anyway I was determined to do at least one LO. I had not planned a thing or even chosen photos, all I knew was I wanted to use my new toy!!! I found these pictures of Elisha when we were at the sea....so cute!!! Lucia looks so much like her.
I used my stamp and chose the word play with a girly border.
I am trying to scrap more what I call imperfect photos. These were pre-scrapping days, so less close-ups...no arty shots of stones or bucket and spade. Just ordinary photos which tell a story. There were lots of photos in this group so it was hard to choose. If you are struggling with choosing from lots of photos you could use these guidelines:
Look for 5-6 photos which best sum up the experience.
Think about the different experiences and choose one for each
Look for visually different photos which will contrast each other..ie the one of Elisha far away and then one closer by the sea.
When you are arranging them in a group of four also think of balancing the close-up or similar ones diagonally opposite another close-up and visa versa. this gives a sense of balance
I wanted the red to stand out and also to use the blue letters, so to neutralise it I used a white cardstock which gives the layout a fresh up beat look.
I still need to put the title on so I will update when I have finished. I was just so pleased I had finished it that I wanted to post it up!!!
So you don't have to only scrap those stunning one pic lo's. Find some old forgotten photos and see what you can do with them. Let me know as I would love to see your work. Have a good w/e
